Stone Harbor-The Wetlands Institute
We had a busy weekend again. We went to Stone Harbor, NJ and visited The Wetlands Institute. They promote the conservation and preservation of coastal ecosystems by providing a fun and educational experience for people of all ages. It was a great place to visit. We climbed their observation tower and looked out over the wetlands. We saw an osprey on his nest, terrapins, birds, crabs, plants that grow in the marshes and so much more! To my amazement I also saw some quilts there! I am including pictures of the two that I saw. They were beautiful! I like how they included the birds and the flowers in them
I bought a chance to win this one. I sure hope I'm lucky!
Just look at the detail in this one!
If you look close, you will see an egret standing in the grassy marsh.
We saw so many wonderful things as we walked the Salt marsh trail.
They will be having a Wings 'n Water Wildlife Arts Festival on Sept. 19-20, 2009. Among the many events will be a display of 100 new and old quilts and wall hangings. It should be a great festival. For more info check it out www.wetlandsinstitute.org

You brought back some wonderful memories for me...of the many summers we would spend not far from Stone Harbor...and the trips we would make to the Institute with our daughters. They have excellent programs there and the location is terrific for observation of shorebirds and other seashore wildlife! Good luck with the quilt raffle. I hope you win!!!
